The Conscious Communicator Book Club
If you're an organizational leader, communications professional, or content creator, it's time to shift from being reactive to being proactive about social justice and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) communications.
Employees and customers are expecting companies and organizations they support to take a meaningful stance on social justice and DEI issues. Communicators who speak on behalf of their organizations are expected to be conscious in their communications.
Not every stakeholder is on board so it can be challenging navigating DEI on your own. It can sometimes feel lonely when you're the one on the cutting edge trying to do what you believe is right for employees and customers.
But you aren't alone. DEI Communications work is underway and you deserve an hour out of your month to network with other professionals who are experiencing the same challenges.
If you're tired of navigating DEI Communications by yourself or you are ready to step up as a strategic advisor, The Conscious Communicators Book Club & Community is here for you.
Based on the Amazon Best Seller, The Conscious Communicator: The fine art of not saying stupid sh*t, we'll come together as a Community and spend time on each chapter to learn DEI Communications and how to apply The DEPTH Model to our communications strategy.
Applying The DEPTH Model guides you in what, where, when and how you communicate DEI and social justice issues, adds value to your brand and grows you as a person, a communicator and team.

Hi. I'm Kim (she/her).
I co-authored The Conscious Communicator with the amazing Janet M. Stovall. There's a backstory on why I started this community around the book.
I focus my work on the communicator and content creator's role in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). When COVID hit in 2020, I saw my colleagues and clients get so stressed and have so little support, I began a communications support group. We met once a week to talk about what's going on, how to navigate the challenges, and support each other.
It was the summer of 2020 when George Floyd was murdered and hundreds of brands started posting solidarity statements that I feared they couldn't or wouldn't keep. The work to reduce harm and contribute meaningfully through communications became central to our weekly meetups. The group ended after a year only because I needed to write this book.
With the book published, I'm calling all communicators and those who communicate as part of their job to join me once a month live on Zoom for Book Club and interact with each other in the Community. We need to do this work together.
Janet and I wrote the book to help organizations build trust and improve reputation through DEI communications and social justice messaging skills. Organizations need guidance to recognize and act upon their role in building an equitable society. Organizations need a repeatable, sustainable (up and down in economic times) and effective process. In the book, we introduced The DEPTH Model.
And in this Book Club and Community, we'll get into it. We'll work on developing our DEI communication skills so we can show up for ourselves and our team in whole new ways.
Our work will be reflected by the depth of our organization's communications and benefit employees and customers in ways we've never dreamed.
